December Aftermath
December 4, 2005
A near sellout crowd at the Alliance Armory was treated to an action-packed night of wrestling Saturday, Dec. 10, in an evening that saw the surprise return of a familiar face, the Heavyweight Title change hands, and a grand total of 11 outstanding matches.
Durty the Clown narrowly escaped with his Hardcore Championship when his sidekick Psycho helped him eke out a win over surprise challenger Wilbur Whitlock. Although the audience was initially disappointed to learn the planned triple threat match between Durty, Brain Damage, and Mr. Insanity was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict, they were certainly happy to see the former Main Event Champ make his return to Alliance, and roared their approval with every chairshot he delivered to the clown. At one point, Wilbur even dumped the self-proclaimed King of Hardcore in a garbage can -- a place the fans seemed to think suited Durty perfectly.
Lexi Lane continued her quest to get Jayme Braxton in the ring, going so far as to send the A-List an open contract to face her. Unfortunately, the A-List did get the contract signed -- just not by Braxton. Instead Lane found herself contractually obligated to fight Brian Biggs, a wrestler who claims to weigh in at over 300 pounds but appears to be significantly smaller -- by a couple hundred or so. Nevertheless, Lexi nearly pulled off the win over Biggs, but the interfering A-List made sure that didn't happen.
But perhaps the biggest match of the evening was the main event, which saw "The Pure One" Justin Diaz defend his World League Heavyweight Title against Jeff Cannon in a steel cage. Diaz opened the night by saying that MEWL didn't know how to do business properly or book and deliver an exciting main event, and he ended the night on his back being pinned by "Big Guns." Cannon has Christian Vaughn to thank, at least in part, for that victory, because "The Natural" invaded the cage disguised as the Mad Monk, surprising Diaz and setting him up for Cannon to deliver the Heavy Artillery from the top rope. No doubt Vaughn was trying to get some measure of revenge on "The Pure One," who refused to give Vaughn any more title shots despite the youngster's many wins over the ex-champ.
Other matches saw Jazin Blaze successfully fend off a challenge to his Cruiserweight Title by "The Bachelor" Richard Carter, Lones Oaks get a win over Psycho, and "Hot Commodity" Matt Mason retain his Main Event Title in a bout with "The Natural" Christian Vaughn.
